From November 27 to 30, 2019, the China-UK-Philippines Cooperation and Exchange Seminar on Maritime Energy Engineering and Innovation was held in Dalian. The “China-Britain University Partner Service” project is the first tripartite cooperation project between China and European countries under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative”. It is also an innovative initiative of China and the UK to jointly build the “Belt and Road Initiative” in the field of education. Relevant persons from the University of Exeter and De La Salle University attended the meeting, and persons from DUT’s International Exchange and Cooperation Office, the Institute of Science and Technology, the Graduate School, and the Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering also attended the meeting.
At the seminar, the three parties from China, Britain, the Philippines introduced the details of graduate training, exchanges and the setting of scholarship in their universities. They had detailed discussions on all aspects of postgraduate joint training project, economic plans and tuition fee charging mechanisms, as well as related cooperation agreements and legal mechanisms. They also concerned with increasing student academic exchanges and student mobility, developing and implementing students’ research capacity building and training.

This seminar aims to carry out in-depth scientific research and educational cooperation in the field of marine renewable energy, enhance academic exchanges and student mobility, establish and carry out joint graduate degree programs, and take the advantages of scientific research and teaching to train the next generation of international marine energy engineers.
The successful holding of this seminar played an important role in leading and promoting the implementation of China-British-Philippine cooperation and exchanges on maritime energy engineering and innovation. In addition, it played a positive role in the discipline development, students exchange and talent training of DUT in the field of marine energy.
